One of five children, Tony Wray grew up on a council estate in Leicester and despite not starting his adult life with a career plan or aspirations, today he is the CEO of one of the leading FTSE 100 international utility services and environmental solutions company.

Tony joined the board of Severn Trent in March 2005. He was appointed Chief Executive on 2 October 2007.
Prior to that, he was Director of Networks at Eircom, the Republic of Ireland's telephone operator. He joined British Gas in 1983 and held various managerial positions.
With the establishment of the gas transportation business, Transco, he became Director of Asset Management, then National Operations Director, before being appointed to implement the merger integration of Lattice (Transco) and National Grid Group into National Grid Transco.
Tony is a Non-Executive Director of Grainger plc.
