Susan joined the RBS Group 25 years ago and demonstrating the highest of standards throughout her career, has worked in a range of roles; from very small businesses to global international corporates.
As one of the founders of the RBS Focused Women’s Network, Susan firmly believes in the importance of enabling team members to fulfil their potential and is a clear role model for men and women. She delivered a ‘master class’ in how to deal with the media when thrown into the public spotlight during a well-publicised technology banking crisis and she talks about taking a ‘leap of faith’ as she maintained control whilst under immense pressure.
Excelling in her professional life, Susan also shares how her role as a parent has positively contributed to her leadership qualities and offers her best advice to other working parents seeking a broader work-life balance.
Susan Allen became Chief Executive of Customer Solutions Group for the Corporate Banking Division of RBS in January 2013. Customer Solutions Group incorporates Lombard, RBS Invoice Finance, Mentor and the Transaction Services Business. Prior to this, Susan led a Retail Bank Transformational Programme - the largest of its kind in the UK.
Susan has worked in the Financial Services industry for over 25 years, and has extensive experience in Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Global Banking, Operations and Head Office roles.
Susan has a degree in Economics and has completed both ACIB and ACT qualifications.
As well as a strong focus on customer service, she is an advocate of diversity in teams. In 2005 Susan set-up and sponsored the Focused Women network for the RBS Group. The network supports the development and career advancement of RBS employees. Susan is also an Advisory Board member of the Women in Banking and Finance committee.
