Authentic leaders talking openly about themselves and their journey so far
Former HR DirectorBBC
Undoubtedly one of the most famous HR Directors of recent years, Lucy joined the BBC in 2009 and was the HR Director for the organisation during some of its most turbulent - and momentous - periods.
With previous HR positions held at Serco plc and Eversheds, during her five years at the corporation, Lucy was at the heart of a number of ambitious and well-publicised projects including the relocation programme and opening of the new BBC in Salford and largest multi-media newsroom in Europe, the 2012 Summer Olympics and led on many more.
There are two sides to every story, and here Lucy shares with Heather Jackson her incredible career journey from Brighton Polytechnic to HR; the resilience she needed in order to cope with many media storms and the importance of keeping a sense of perspective in order to survive a crisis; and the wonderful relationship she shares with her daughter, “the light of my life.”
Lucy Adams was the HR Director at the BBC during one of its most turbulent periods. In just five years the BBC had four Director-Generals, opened the new BBC in Salford and the largest multi-media newsroom in Europe, delivered significant financial reductions...and, of course, coped with numerous crises including pay-offs and Savile. Lucy has been at the heart of all of these events and led on many more.
Lucy was at the BBC from 2009 and following her recent resignation left April 2014.
Before that she was Group HR Director at Serco plc and Eversheds. She has led and delivered change in complex organisations for over 15 years.
