Authentic leaders talking openly about themselves and their journey so far
Vice President of Enterprise SystemsBP Group
As Vice President of Enterprise Systems for the Bp Group, this is very different career journey to Ed Alford’s early aspirations to join the RAF. His entry into the oil and gas industry followed a successful career at Anderson Consulting and in the past eight years, Ed has successfully managed a number of global organisations.
Married with two daughters, Ed balances his demanding work schedule with family and a love of sport and talks to Heather about how he encourages a work life balance for himself and his team.
He also chats about the importance of leadership performance in crisis situations and within a stressful environment, about breaking down barriers and bureaucracy and how he inspires those around him to the best they can possibly be.
Ed Alford is the Vice President of Enterprise Systems for the Bp Group. This involves delivering and running SAP inside of Bp’s businesses (Upstream, Downstream, IST and Functions). In the past 8 years he has successfully managed the Fuels Value Chain (FVC) Global SAP Deployment Programme which transformed the Downstream businesses. Ed was previously the FVC Process and Systems Transformation Lead and prior to that, Global CIO for the Convenience Retail Business and Global CIO for the Downstream Fuels Value Chains.
Prior to joining BP Ed spent 12 years at Andersen Consulting, predominantly in downstream businesses, at Chevron, Exxon and Shell in roles delivering process change and systems enablement.
He is married, has two daughters and enjoys golf, football, climbing and skiing.Hide
